The family and I hiked up Mary’s Peak. It’s the highest peak in the Oregon Coast Range.
A bird laid five eggs in our back yard last summer, but only four hatched. The birds were essentially blind when they were born. But after less than two weeks, the baby birds had working eyes and were ready to leave the nest.
Mother Nature has ruined our cool summer. Until last weekend, we’ve been in the 70’s and 80’s all summer. Then boom! It reached 102° on Saturday. It’s a good thing we have a little swimming pool to cool off in. Note to wife: sunglasses are not the same thing as swim goggles.
When we were in Sausalito last month, we saw a man with a water jet pack. He must have followed us back to Portland because a man in a water jet pack put on a show along our waterfront recently. According to the local news, the guy in the water jet pack actually came for the Blues Festival and will be back again next month. The water jet pack looks pretty cool. I’m going to put it on my birthday wish list. It only costs a $100,000.
We had brunch in Sausalito (bay area) before we drove back to rainy Portland.
